About us
Who we are
A Legacy of Compassion and Sustainability
BoxAid Global, formerly known as “Lishe Ya Damu” a Kiswahili phrase meaning “nutrition for the blood” traces its roots to the lived experiences of its founder, who was orphaned at the age of eight, she endured hardship, rejection, and isolation, which instilled in her a profound compassion for society’s most marginalised.
Her first act of service came at just eight years old, when she shared her jam sandwich with a street child. This simple gesture awakened in her a lifelong purpose: to identify with and uplift the abandoned and forgotten.
Recognising the link between malnutrition, disease, and poverty, she began sourcing affordable, nutritious food and redistributing it to impoverished communities. Food, for her, was not merely sustenance but a form of healing, dignity, and empowerment.
From these grassroots beginnings, BoxAid Global emerged as a platform committed to enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable, indigent, and terminally ill individuals, while addressing broader structural issues such as homelessness, disempowerment, and environmental degradation.
The name BoxAid symbolises “ an all-in-one service” a metaphorical box containing “ solutions for diverse human needs ”, from nourishment to empowerment, from life to death. It embodies the vision of a unified humanity where compassion, dignity, and opportunity are universal.
