Where We Work
United Kingdom

In the United Kingdom, BoxAid Global operates at the intersection of environmental sustainability and humanitarian relief, addressing two urgent national challenges:
Waste Management and Social Vulnerability
Every year, tonnes of usable goods are discarded and sent to landfills. At BoxAid, we intervene at this critical juncture, rescuing items bound for disposal, recycling them, and redistributing them to individuals and families in need.
Our environmental initiative not only reduces the UK’s carbon footprint but ensures that essential household items find renewed purpose in the lives of those struggling to survive. We support a wide spectrum of vulnerable groups, including:
- Refugees and asylum seekers
- Low-income households
- Migrants in transition
- Survivors of domestic violence, torture, or captivity
- Individuals and families experiencing temporary homelessness or displacement
Through our redistribution efforts, beneficiaries receive vital items such as bedding, clothing, furniture, and household goods, enabling them to live in greater dignity and comfort during times of crisis.
These resources serve not only as practical support but also as symbols of stability and hope in periods of upheaval.
In addition to material aid, BoxAid is preparing to launch a digital and in-person integration platform designed to assist immigrants and refugees in understanding the British legal system, cultural norms, and civic responsibilities.
This initiative aims to ease the transition into British society, reduce isolation, and promote social cohesion through civic education and community engagement.
BoxAid’s UK-based operations embody our wider mission: to reduce inequality, repurpose waste, and ensure that no one regardless of background or status is left behind.
Uganda

Supporting End Acid Violence Uganda and partnering with volunteers in Rubuguri to aid survivors of violence. Moreso, in Uganda there exists a tribe known as the Batwa, one of Africa’s oldest indigenous peoples. Traditionally forest-dwelling hunter-gatherers, the Batwa lived for centuries in the rainforests of Bwindi and Mgahinga, where they were revered as the “keepers of the forest.” However, conservation initiatives in the early 1990s led to their eviction from ancestral lands without adequate compensation, leaving them displaced and vulnerable. Today, the Batwa face extreme poverty, marginalisation, and loss of cultural identity. Despite these challenges, they continue to preserve elements of their rich heritage while advocating for recognition and inclusion in Ugandan society. BoxAid Global’s presence in Uganda acknowledges this history and works to support both survivors of violence and indigenous communities, ensuring that no group is left behind in the pursuit of dignity and justice. BoxAid Global has undertaken a comprehensive project in Uganda that reflects its holistic approach to humanitarian aid, empowerment, and environmental sustainability. This initiative includes providing medical aid to victims such as Bambuza, a tribeswoman disfigured in an acid attack, and purchasing land for the tribe to live peacefully and cultivate crops. In addition, shelters, a community kitchen, and a schoolroom have been built to offer stability and essential services. Literacy, numeracy, and vocational skills such as basket weaving are taught, fostering self-reliance and economic resilience. By promoting community cohesion and reducing stigma, the project not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the foundation for long-term dignity and inclusion.
Kenya

Collaborating with Alice Changawa, a dedicated community-based nurse serving vulnerable groups, BoxAid Global has extended its mission of compassion and dignity to countless individuals across the country. Through this partnership, the organisation has provided medical care, shelter, food, and clothing to those most in need, ensuring that vulnerable families and individuals are not left behind. Alice’s grassroots work has been instrumental in reaching people often overlooked by mainstream healthcare and social systems. Together with BoxAid Global, she has facilitated access to essential medical services, supported malnourished children with food and nutrition, and offered safe accommodation to those displaced by poverty or crisis. Beyond immediate relief, the collaboration also focuses on restoring dignity and hope, empowering beneficiaries to rebuild their lives through practical support and community reintegration. This partnership exemplifies BoxAid Global’s holistic approach: combining healthcare, humanitarian aid, and empowerment to address both urgent needs and long-term resilience. In Kenya, the organisation continues to stand alongside vulnerable groups, reaffirming its guiding principle that every life is valuable and deserving of care.
Nigeria

Partnering with Chigozie Effe, a renowned humanitarian journalist and co-lead of BoxAid Nigeria. In addition to its interventions in Uganda, BoxAid Global has extended its compassion to Nigeria, where it has reached some of the most neglected communities. Among these are the lepers’ colonies in Niger State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Lepers’ colonies in Nigeria were historically established as segregated settlements for individuals affected by leprosy, a chronic infectious disease that carried severe social stigma. Many residents were forcibly isolated from mainstream society, leading to generations of marginalisation. Although modern medicine has made leprosy treatable and less prevalent, the colonies remain home to thousands who continue to suffer from poverty, disability, and exclusion. Residents often face inadequate housing, poor sanitation, and limited access to healthcare. Despite medical advances, leprosy survivors and their families are still subjected to discrimination, which restricts opportunities for education and employment. By providing food distribution, clothing, and medical support, BoxAid Global seeks to restore dignity and hope to these communities, ensuring they are not forgotten. Beyond the lepers’ colonies, BoxAid Global has supported countless Nigerians through diverse interventions. The organisation has assisted families with rent payments, provided medical care, distributed food and clothing, and created empowerment opportunities through vocational training and skills development. In addition, BoxAid has partnered with several NGOs operating care homes for children, ensuring that vulnerable young people receive shelter, education, and nurturing support. Through these initiatives, BoxAid Global demonstrates its commitment to holistic humanitarianism bridging efforts across Uganda and Nigeria, and addressing both immediate needs and long-term empowerment.

Guiding Principle
Across all locations, BoxAid Global’s mission remains the same: to improve lives and protect the environment by repurposing materials, empowering communities, and promoting self-sustaining solutions. Our guiding principle is simple yet profound: “Pay it forward and change a life.” This belief in reciprocity that one act of goodness, when multiplied, can transform generations continues to shape BoxAid Global. It is not merely an organisation, but a movement grounded in compassion, sustainability, and dignity.
